Procedure Title: Saturate and aromatic gas chromatography mass spectrometry.
Instrumentation:

Theory of Operation:
• Quantitative and qualitative analyses by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry are performed on saturate and aromatic fractions by injecting microliter volumes into a split/splitless injector. A capillary GC column is used to provide hydrocarbons separation. A mass selective detector provides ionization, fragmentation, filtration, and detection of biomarkers.
Analytical Procedure:
Saturate preparation( Saturate Spiking)
Place an insert into a 2 ml auto sampler vial.
Weigh the saturate fraction.
Add cholane. (Internal standard for saturate GCMS analysis).
Add cyclohexane.
Select the method.
Inject the fraction into the GCMS according to the instruction manual.
Aromatic preparation ( Aromatic Spiking)
Place an insert into a 2 ml auto sampler vial.
Weigh the aromatic fraction.
Add OTP (Orthoterphenyl). (Internal standard for aromatic GCMS analysis).
Add cyclohexane.
Select the method.
Inject the fraction into the GCMS according to the instruction manual.
