Analysis Title: Light Hydrocarbons Analysis for gas samples.
Instrumentation: 1-Agilent 6890 N GC System / Agilent 7683 B Series Injector. 2-Hewlett Packard (HP) 6890 Series GC System/ Agilent 6890 Series Injector.

Theory of Operation:
• Qualitative analyses are performed on gas samples with C6+ greater than 750 ppm by injecting microliter volumes of the gas samples into a split/splitless injector of a gas chromatograph (GC).
• A capillary column is used to provide separation of the light hydrocarbon compounds in the n-C4 to n-C9 carbon range for detection by a flame ionization detector (FID).
Analytical Procedure:
Withdraw the appropriate amount of the gas sample using a plastic syringe.
Inject the gas into the GC and analyze the sample using the appropriate GC method.
Review the chromatogram and identify the peaks.
Quality assurance program:
• Instrument Blank: Should be run before running samples & should be run after performing any maintenance.
• (NGS-NSO-1) Norwegian Geochemical standard North Sea Oil-1: is run every 10 samples. The NGS NSO-1 standard enables the analyst to evaluate numerous instrument properties such as peak separation, resolution, baselines, performance, and detector response.
